June 25, 2017

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Jon Kemmer hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, and Tyler White homered as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the Sacramento River Cats 6-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

The home run by Kemmer, part of a two-run inning, gave the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead before Max Stassi scored on a sacrifice later in the inning.

The Grizzlies later tacked on three runs in the sixth, including a single by Tony Kemp that scored Kemmer.

Brendan McCurry (1-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while Sacramento starter Dusten Knight (1-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

The Grizzlies swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game 6-2. Reid Brignac drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning for that win.

The walk by Brignac came in the midst of a six-run inning and gave the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead. Later in the inning, Jon Kemmer hit a three-run triple and then scored on a triple by Tony Kemp.

In the top of the sixth, Sacramento cut into the lead on a wild pitch that scored Carlos Moncrief.

Fresno right-hander Casey Coleman (3-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. Opposing starter Roberto Gomez (1-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and five hits over three innings.
