Madera District Fair invites local acts to apply to perform

A yearly entertainment tradition continues as the Madera District Fair invites local talent to showcase their gifts on the Patio Stage at this year’s event.

“The Madera Fair is proud to provide this venue to showcase diverse acts such as singing, dancing, musical talents, martial arts, and more,” said the fair’s events coordinator Barbara Leach. “Madera Fair is ‘Your Fair since 1937!’ Whether you stroll the grounds or display your talent, the community is what makes this fair special.”

Each performance is limited to 25 participants or fewer and either 20 or 50 minutes total stage time, which allows the stage to be prepared for the next act. Community acts are not paid, but fair entry passes will be given to performers and chaperones. Children’s groups will receive a chaperone pass for every five children participating. Additional guests and spectators will have to purchase their own fair admission.

Community act applications are available 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays at the district fair office, 1850 W. Cleveland Ave. They may be delivered, faxed or emailed to the fair office.

Applications will be due by July 14, and will be considered in the order received. Stage time is limited so there’s no guarantee all applicants will be accepted.

The fair’s community act schedule will begin to be prepared after July 15, and performers will learn of their assigned time on stage around mid-August, according to Leach.
