Police seek suspects in violent robbery attempt

Madera police are looking for two suspects who were caught on camera during the attempted strong-arm robbery of a convenience store in which a cashier was assaulted.

According to Madera Police Det. Sgt. Mark Trukki the incident, occurred Monday evening at Johnny Quik, 755 S. Madera Ave., when the suspects, a Hispanic man wearing a blue hoodie, and a Hispanic woman in a black sweatshirt, approached the counter.

“The male suspect demanded the money from the register,” Trukki said, “and when the clerk refused, he began to assault him.”

Surveillance footage from the store’s camera shows the altercation.

According to store owner Satnam Pabla, the suspects failed to take any money from the store, managing only to take a few items from the counter. The female suspect, Trukki said, then helped the assailant to escape.

People with information are encouraged to call Madera Police Det. John Rosel 675-4243, or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
