Madera South’s Brandon Goethe tosses a pitch during a one-hit victory over Roosevelt on Tuesday at Eddie Chapa Field.

By the time the second inning was over, the Madera South Stallions baseball team owned a 17-0 lead and cruised to a 19-0 non-conference victory over the Roosevelt Rough Riders at Eddie Chapa Field.

The Stallions banged out 14 hits, but were also the recipient of 12 walks from four Roosevelt pitchers, including eight from the starter.

Madera South head coach Bobby Waits went into moving from station-to-station mode midway through the second inning when the Stallions scored 13 runs and sent 17 batters to the plate.

Thirteen different Stallions scored a run, had a hit or drove in a run. Seth Jessing led the team with four RBIs. Angelo Feliu and Caleb Bertoncini each had three hits to lead the team. Bertoncini and Oscar Reyes led the team with three runs each.

Brandon Goethe allowed a hit over four innings with seven strikeouts to pick up the victory.

The Stallions opened the game by sending 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning.
Josh Conigliaro and Felix Soria drew walks to open the inning. Bertoncini drove in Conigliaro with a single. Reyes drew a walk to load the bases. Alonzo Tovar drew another walk to force in Soria. Jessing flew out to right, but Bertoncini came in to score.

Jeremy Flores grounded out and Reyes scored. Carlos Gonzales and Uriel Conde drew walks to load the bases again. Conigliaro, in his second at-bat of the inning, flew out to center.

Then, came the second inning. Soria and Bertoncini started the 13-run inning with singles. Fifteen batters later and 13 runs came across the plate. The Stallions were recipients of four walks and three hit batters. Feliu drove in a run with a single. Tovar hit a two-run double and Jessing followed with another two-run double. Gonzalez drove in another run with an infield single.

Madera South added two more runs in the third with singles from Brandon Gamiz and Feliu to start the rally. After a walk to Kingsley Thomas to load the bases, Seth Jessing singled and Flores drew a bases loaded walk for the 19th run of the game.

The Stallions opened County/Metro Athletic Conference play Friday against Bullard.
