Cars collide at intersection

A car sits across the broken fence line of a front yard at B and 10th streets after colliding with a van Thursday.

The collision of a car and van Thursday at the intersection of B and 10th streets sent one of the vehicles into the empty front yard of a nearby home.

“Luckily no one was in the yard at the time of the crash,” said Madera Police Detective Brent Cederquist.

The crash happened at an intersection in which stop signs only control traffic coming from either direction on 10th Street.

“It’s a good idea to wait for the approaching cars to stop even if they do have a stop sign,” Cederquist said. “It’s better to lose a minute out of your busy life than to lose your life in a minute.”
