Lion cub Kijani makes public debut at Fresno Chaffee Zoo

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Zoo-goers in central California can finally meet a zoo's newest lion cub as Kijani has made his public debut.

The nearly 16-week-old lion cub drew a crowd of about 100 people Saturday during his first public outing at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

Kijani's debut was delayed until Saturday because of the weather. The little lion cub can only come out when the temperature is at or above 50 degrees. It is unclear when the cub will come out to play again.

Kijani was born Oct. 11 and was named through public voting. Zoo visitors selected the name Kijani, meaning warrior, out of six other Swahili names.
