We are the caretakers of this wonderful planet
“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the seas, over the fowl of the air, and every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
— Genesis 1:28 The scriptures tell a wonderful story about the creation of our planet and how the Creative Intelligence of the Universe (God) wanted all life on the planet to be in order and for all life to have a purpose. The story tells how God wanted man to have dominion over all life.
Because of the higher intelligence of the human species, and the human species being the only living thing that could make choices and being able to think, would be the one species to be the caretaker of what had been created.
The story in the scriptures wants us to think it was all done in seven days. The Creative Intelligence did not use a schedule or a calendar to put everything together the way we see it today because time and space does not exist in the Mastermind of the Universe (God).
The time could have been no factor because the creation is still going on.
There are new species being discovered by science each year and those discoveries will continue as long as this planet exists.
The part I want to focus on is the caretaker part man has in the whole scheme of things we all use each day and what man’s job should be as a caretaker or steward and what everyone should be doing to help.
It is the job of every adult to pick up after themselves and to teach their children how important it is to respect other people’s space and do what they can to make everything better for everyone in this short life experience on this planet.
A friend of mine told me a story that his neighbor shared with him about an experience he had here in this wonderful community. He was at one of the hardware stores to pick up some things, and while still in the parking lot was almost hit by a car exiting the drive-through from a fast-food restaurant. When he followed the car into the street and they stopped at the first traffic light he was behind the same car that almost hit him.
There was some trash thrown out the driver’s side window and when the light changed he moved forward enough to pick up the trash and follow the car to an office parking lot a few blocks away.
Stopping beside the car that threw the trash out, he went to the driver and handed the trash to the driver saying, “This fell from your car back at the light and I thought it might be important to you because it might have been something you wanted to keep.”
It was a paper bag, some sandwich wrappers, a couple of napkins and the receipt for the purchase that was made. The driver got upset and called my friend’s neighbor a few choice names but did keep the trash the neighbor handed to him.
The neighbor left the office parking lot feeling good because he felt the next time the driver wanted to get rid of trash, he would find one of the containers provided by several businesses here in our wonderful community.
When all of us can help each other keep our community trash free, then the pride of the people will make this a more wonderful place to enjoy. We can all be our own caretakers of our space and the Creative Intelligence of the Universe (God) will keep our planet and environment clean and safe through the acts of nature which is God expressing Itself.
