Mopar Car Club show raises money for charities

The San Joaquin Valley Mopars Car Club held its 23rd annual car show and swap meet, in order to raise money for various charitable organizations.

The show, which was held at Lions Town and Country Park on Saturday, was a chance for drivers from across the San Joaquin Valley to show off their Chrysler-affiliated cars, and visit with other owners and enthusiasts.

“We’ve got 93 cars here today,” said car show chairman Ron Braden. “It’s the biggest Mopar show in Central California.”

In the end, the award for “Best of Show” went to contestant Ray Lucas for his 1968 Dodge Hemi Charger. In addition to a trophy, Lucas’ car will be featured as the lead car in the artwork of next year’s t-shirts, and will be automatically entered into the “Top Gun” competition in 2017 to compete with other best of show winners.

Proceeds from the event went to Holy Cross of St. Agnes Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, the Juvenile Huntington’s Disease Foundation, and to the City of Madera to help those with special needs.
