Candidate forum set for Oct. 17

Seven candidates on Madera’s ballot in November will speak at a public forum 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1981 Hall, 2026 N. Granada.

The forum will feature city council and Madera Unified School District candidates.

Scheduled participants are mayoral candidate Andy Medellin, who is running unopposed, District 2 council candidates Jim DaSilva and Jose Rodriguez, MUSD trustee candidates Ray Seibert and Luis Carillo (Area 1) and Ric Arredondo and Lynn Cogdill (Area 6).

Two other city council candidates will not be present as Derek Orlando Robinson Sr. (District 4) and Donald E. Holley (District 6), are running unopposed.

The forum will be presented and facilitated by The Madera Tribune, Madera Coalition for Community Justice and Madera Chamber of Commerce.

The presidential general election will be Nov. 8. Voting polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
