Hall of Fame to induct 7 more

The Madera Coyote 1997-1998 Valley Championship boys soccer team will be one of the inductees into the sixth class of the Madera Athletic Hall of fame, the committee announced Monday. The Madera Athletic Hall of Fame induction dinner will be Nov. 5 in the Peters Brothers Banquet Hall.

The Madera Athletic Hall of Fame will induct its sixth class in November and the Hall of Famers have been announced.

Longtime Madera Coyote diving coach Bill McAlister leads a list of five athletes, a team and a contributor to the Madera Athletic Hall of Fame, which will host induction ceremonies Nov. 5 at the Peter’s Brothers Banquet Hall.

Madera South High School will get its first athlete inducted into the Madera Athletic Hall of Fame. Football and volleyball player Landon Guglielmana earned that honor and he will be inducted posthumously.

Along with Guglielmana, though, will be his stepmother Danene (Bishel) Guglielmana, who was a standout volleyball player and track athlete.

Longtime contributors to the Madera athletic programs, the DaSilva family, will be inducted. The Memorial Stadium field is named after patrioarch Lee DaSilva.

Also getting inducted will be All-American wrestler Eric Philp, All-conference lineman Anthony Gallegos and two-time All-American swimmer Art Ruble.

In the team category, the Madera Coyote 1997-1998 boys soccer Valley Championship team will also receive induction. It was the school’s first, and only, boys soccer Valley Championship.

Tickets for the induction ceremony are $50 each and can be purchased from Bill Dawson at Round Table Pizza (479-1649) or Tyler Takeda at The Madera Tribune (217-0311).
