Walk-off gives Police city title

In a game filled with 29 strikeouts and just six hits, Madera Police’s Marcus Molina had the most important hit of the night to drive in David Ramirez with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give manager Mike Molina his first Madera Little League City Championship.

A pitcher’s duel of epic proportions broke out at Mike Howe Field, home of the Madera American Little League. Winning pitcher David Ramirez tossed seven innings of two-hit ball for the MALL champions. He struck out 15 batters and allowed an earned run in Saturday’s 2-1 extra inning victory over Madera National Little League champion Round Table.

“That kind of happens to us all year long,” Molina said. “He struck out four in the first inning, but they got a run out of it. He’s bounced back and done that all year long.”
