No Bass Lake boat stickers at sheriff’s ‘island’ office

Boat registration stickers for Bass Lake are not being sold at the Madera County Sheriff’s “Island” office this year, but stickers are now available for purchase at three new locations.

Bass Lake Water Sports, Millers Landing Resort and the Forks Resort are currently selling registration stickers. The sheriff’s “island” office is not issuing the stickers this year and no boats will be registered by sheriff’s personnel as had been done in the past.

“This new procedure will be more convenient for the boating public and will also save taxpayer funds since sheriff’s personnel will no longer be needed to issue the registration stickers,” Sheriff Jay Varney said.

Registration sticker fees vary based on the vessel’s power: Vessels up to 35 horsepower are $32; 36-250 hp are $50; 251 hp or more are $63. Personal water craft are $50. Registration stickers are required year-round for any vessels operated on Bass Lake...
