State report: More graduates, more rigor in Madera schools

A report released Tuesday in Sacramento brought good news to Madera Unified School District.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson unveiled data on the graduation rates of California’s high schools and the relative rigor of the classes the graduates took in the 2014-2015 school year.

Madera’s high schools continued the annual increase in their graduation rates, with Madera High School reaching 96.7 percent, up 1.4 percent from last year. Madera South High School hit 90.9 percent, up 1,7 percent from last year.
