Champions crowned in spring softball leagues

Two city softball leagues completed play this week with champions crowned after playoffs in the Men’s and Coed Leagues.

In the Men’s League number one seed GGK waited until the semi-final game was concluded with number two seed Water Connection defeating number three seed Pacific Ethanol, 15-8. The championship game saw an exciting game with Water Connection beating GGK 18-17 by hitting a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh and final inning. Water Connection finished the league with an 8-2 record.

In the Coed League playoffs, undefeated and number one seed Joey’s Mobile Tint defeated number four seed Unknown, 11-7. The second semifinal saw SBK clobber MWA, 15-1. In the championship game Joey’s continued its domination of the league with a 20-10 victory of SBK.

Registration for the summer Men’s, Recreational, and Coed Softball Leagues is now being taken at the Parks and Community Services Department in the John W. Wells Youth Center, 701 E. Fifth Street. For information, call 661-5495.
