BONNEY LAKE, Wash. — From 1,400 feet in the air, the town of Bonney Lake looks much different to a tourist from Madera than he remembers when he lived there awhile some 30 years ago.
The day I wrote this, I was dividing my time between writing at my computer and making several batches of pesto sauce with three different kinds of basil that I grew in oak halfbarrels on my deck.

30,000 SEE WARBIRDS — The 16th annual Gathering of the Warbirds International Air Show drew an estimated 30,000 people to the Madera Municipal Airport on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to see military aircraft
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The carload of tourists from Madera pulled into a Texaco station here, and the driver started to get out of the car to pump gas. Then she stopped and got back into the car.
Public swim at Centennial Pool is now closed for the season. Senior Water Aerobics, Tuesday and Thursday mornings beginning at 9 a.m. will continue until Aug. 30.
