The Madera Tribune newspaper hosted a customer appreciation day 4-6 p.m. Oct. 1, 2014, with free barbecue, a life DJ, Madera Classic Cars, free computer technician help, flu shots, and vehicles from the Madera County Fire Department, Madera County Sheriff’s Department, and Pistoresi Ambulance.
The Madera Community Hospital Foundation donated $125,000 this weekend to the hospital for the purchase of equipment. The passing of the facsimile check took place during the foundation's annual dinner-dance, attended by about 400 who paid $65 each Saturday evening, Sept. 27. The theme was “Phantom of the Opera.”
Liberty High School football players Sam Glover and Brett Cazares engage in a French fry eating contest Friday during KGPE-47's broadcast with Rachel Azevedo at a Carl's Jr. in River Park. The Liberty-Fowler football games was the station's game of the week and the Hawks remained undefeated with a 35-0 victory and were featured on the station's live broadcast. Glover won the fry eating contest.
