Something really awesome happened at our house Oct. 5. I am a senior citizen and my husband is in a nursing home. One of the Love Madera groups came and made what’s left of our yard look good, and some of them left before I could thank them properly, so I’m turning to our trusty local newspaper.

This group apparently was mainly from the Madera Kiwanis Club, headed by Tiffany Miller, and ably assisted by another beautiful woman — I think her name was Staci. There were several men who came but the only other name I got was “Baldy” and only he would know who I mean, as he said my husband, who is bald, used to call him that.

When I told my husband about the work that was done, he cried. Of course, when this formerly tough guy cries, we all cry. But we are so thankful and grateful and wish and hope and believe that the Lord will shower blessings on each of you. Of course that goes as well for everyone who participated in Saturday’s event, all the leaders and all the workers, but I’m hoping for something special for the group that came to us.

Elizabeth Phillips,
Madera
