Regarding the article in the paper on the water rate increase for Parkwood and the outrageousness of the amount, please be advised that we homeowners did not receive any ballots so that we could say no.

If the county had increased our water rate 3 percent each of the last 18 years, it would have been more than enough to cover the cost.

Since when has the city of Madera been subsidizing Parkwood property owners? The county playing catch-up is boloney.

We had three wells and they got rid of two out east and now say one well costs more. This is just a way of doubling our property tax.

You (the county) want 10 percent of my gross income; how immoral, when they know we are retired and our income does not keep up with inflation. As far as being annexed into the city, if we wanted to live in the city we would have bought a house there.

In this economy, raising rates does not make sense. This is outrageous and I protest. And by the way, a simple majority would never have approved these rate increases. Please tell the county and city to stop lying and send us the ballots.
