Too much political correctness, thank you

Did you catch the “political correctness” in the March 25 Madera Tribune? In the article about the egg hunt (note that it’s no longer the Easter Egg Hunt) they referred to “coordinated photos of children with the spring bunny.”

So now we can’t call that floppy-eared, white, hoppy creature an “Easter Bunny,” although now that I think about it, Easter and the risen Christ have absolutely nothing to do with bunnies, baskets, chocolate or eggs!

So sad that a few people started a stampede for the eggs after the Madera Parks Department worked so hard to make it a fun event for everyone. To the parents who ignored the directions of the parks staff and lifted their children over the fence and dropped them onto the field, in the future please try modeling some manners, civility and kindness instead of greedy, pushy and rude behavior!

Hope you and your loved ones have a great Easter as we celebrate the wonderful gift God granted us through the death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ. And if this message is “politically incorrect” that’s just fine with me!

Blessings to you all.

Barbara Thomasson,
Madera
