In response to Laura LaPorte’s letter in the May 7th issue:

I’m not sure what Ms. LaPorte means when she says that “Character is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking” and equates it to “leading by example” in regard to business owners who are running for Supervisor in District 1.

I am proud to say that my business, Pete’s Sport Shop, has been “doing the right thing” and “leading by example” since 1959. Businesses located within the city limits are required to have a City Business License which we have had for over 55 years.

Since there was no such thing as District 1 in 1959 I am puzzled by the relevancy of Ms. LaPorte’s statements.

Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight.

Rochelle Noblett
Candidate for Supervisor District 1
