Just made reservations for renting a car in Chicago to use when we arrive there. Toyota Corolla 357.02 for the week. Now comes the good part:

- Vehicle license recovery, $1.25 per day, total of ......................... $8.75
- Lessor tax, total of .............. $2.75
- Auto rental occupation tax .. $18.29
- MPEA Tax ............................ $21.95
- Mass transit tax .................... $3.66
- Chicago transaction tax ........ $29.26
- Total ................................... $140.66
That’s 39 percent.
You think they are making this up, but they’re not. And Chicago is still going broke. These taxes are unearned income ... a gift. Nothing but grief was made and I (yes, Obama) I didn’t make that.
