I just read in today’s edition of The Madera Tribune (June 14) that our Madera Police Chief Michael Kime has announced his retirement after almost 10 years on the job. My feelings on the matter are best summarized as follows:
I was not there when you were hired.
I will not be there when you leave.
You are someone I have greatly admired.
I congratulate you for what you have achieved.
After 44 years of dedicated service,
A decade of that to the City of Madera,
I want you to know that when you go
It will be the end of an era.
For the leadership and the courage
You have displayed in fighting crime,
You have made the phrase “Devotion to Duty”
Synonymous with your name — Michael Kime.
