After reading both articles Friday and Saturday, July 6 and 7, on the high-speed rail, I have to say that I am disappointed that you only reported the negative opinions on the high-speed rail.
I would have like to have read, in addition to the opposition, the amount of jobs the project would bring to Madera specifically.
I would also have like to have read more information about the possible maintenance yard planned for Madera.
The opposition in Madera to the project is relatively small. Farmers, most city council and county supervisors oppose it for their farmers. And though farming is our largest industry in Madera, it is not the only opinion of the citizens of Madera. Perhaps a follow up article about the jobs coming to Madera, the changes to our decaying infrastructure, which is well needed and the maintenance yard planned for our county. I, your reader am tired of reading about all the negative and never or very rarely the positive. Thank you for your time and consideration.

(Editor’s note: We weren’t successful in attempts to contact pro-rail sources on Friday, but plan to do so in the future. We do plan to do follow-up stories as they develop. Right now, no specific information is available on what, if any, jobs will be open to Maderans. The likelihood is that some local contractors, along with their employees, will receive work, and that hotels and restaurants will be busier than usual when work is under way in the county.)
