We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Sheryl Berry and the Madera Historical Society for selecting us as the 2013 Old Timer’s Day King and Queen. We are extremely honored.
We are thankful to Bill Coate for his wonderful article, and Wendy Alexander and Annette Doud for their beautiful photos. Thank you, Leon Emo, for including us in your column.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Madera’s annual Ice Cream Social, including those who cooked the hot dogs, served the food and drinks, and volunteered their time and help.
Thank you to Bridge Store for their food donations and to Ruth Nishimoto Thelander for organizing the Madera Junior Leos Club to help with the serving and clean up. Thank you to Shades of Grey. The music was very much enjoyed by all.
We are grateful to all of the family, friends, and fellow Maderans who attended this special community event and for everyone who took the time to call us and send thoughtful cards. All of this togetherness is what makes our town of Madera an awesome place to live.
Following the coronation, the celebration was culminated with the generous $250,000 donation from the Red and Nancy Arnold Foundation. What a monumental contribution, which will enable the Madera Historical Society to make our Madera Courthouse Museum even more fabulous.
We hope to see you at the Old Timers Day Parade on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. God bless you!
