By Madera County 4-H

Abigail “Abby” Poore is the 4-H county record book winner for the clothing and textiles category. This was a real compliment to Abby because this was only her first year in the sewing project.

Abigail joined 4-H two years ago, after tagging along with her brother to all of his project meetings. She is a 5th grader at Lincoln Elementary School, where she has attended since kindergarten. Her first year as a mini member was great, but this last year in 4-H has been so much fun.

She was very brave in taking on a number of projects in her first regular year as a full-fledged 4-H member. Along with sewing, she completed projects in public speaking, community pride, and country cooking. She was very successful in all, but her favorite was sewing.

As a first-year member in sewing, she along with her other first-year members sewed a tote bag. Abby is very fond of fashion and aspires to travel to Paris one day, so she decided to theme her tote after something she really loves, Paris. Her tote “Ooh La La, Fabulous” took first place and County Winner at County Fashion Revue here in Madera in April. She was then allowed to participate at the state level by attending State Fashion Revue at UC Davis in May...
