In reference to the Editor’s Corner of Nov. 7, although I always enjoy reading Chuck Doud’s editorials I did not agree with his closing statements in that column regarding the ongoing conflict involving Madera Country Treasurer-Tax Collector Tracy Kennedy Desmond, Auditor Marcia Hall, Chief Administrative Officer Eric Fleming and the Madera County Board of Supervisors.

In his editorial Doud stated that a number of counties are changing from electing to appointing people to fill jobs such as the treasurer-tax collector and suggested that it’s time for Madera County to consider doing the same.

That’s just one more step to removing what little power the electorate has left and relinquishing it to the politicians who run our county. If, we the people, don’t like the way the treasurer-tax collector does their job we can vote them out. Let’s not give the Board of Supervisors all the power!
