I would like to congratulate the Table Mountain Casino on their 25th anniversary, and for all those years of enjoyment they have given us, and also the good food that they serve in their restaurant.

My wife and I have a real good memory of when our daughter Lori invited us to go with her to the casino when they opened 25 years ago. At first my wife and I didn’t want to go because she wanted to go to the casino at 11:30 or 12 at night, and she told us, Mom, you both stay up at night watching TV. So she convinced us to go.

As we got there for the fist time we went straight to the “nickel machines” and Iput in five nickels and Ihit a jackpot of $1,800. Boy! My wife and I were happy that we had gone with our daughter Lori.

Coming back home at about 2:30 in the morning, right there by the river, a little ways from the casino, the van had a flat tire. I asked my daughter where she had the spare tire and she told me, Dad, I don’t have one. So I called our insurance and the tow truck brought us a tire at 3:30 in the morning. I told my daughter that since I won $1,800 Iwould pay for the tire.

Also throughout the years my brother Oscar and his wife, Olivia, and their son, Oscar Jr., go out to eat for our birthdays. My birthday is July 21 and my brother’s birthday is Aug. 11.

Oscar Jr., who had an accident on a motorcycle about 25 years ago, and is in a wheelchair, enjoys playing Bingo on the slot machines.

I have a friend that used to work here in Madera at Deniz Packing. He only used to work two or three months out of the year; but now he has been working there at the casino for the last four years. They moved to Fresno and his wife got a job at Saint Agnes Hospital. He drops her at the hospital in the afternoon and he goes to work at the casino, and picks her up the next morning.

Also, this friend of mine was a security guard here in Madera at a store on Cleveland and Lake, and now he works at the casino.

Well, I guess that’s all for this time. I can hardly wait until they open the casino on Avenue 17 and Highway 99 so more people can get a job at the casino. And remember, if you don’t like to gamble, you can always go eat there and enjoy their good food.
