The Latinas Unidas club is accepting nominations for the 2015 Mother of the Year award that they will announce and celebrate during their 13th annual Mother’s Day Tea in May.

The Madera Elks Lodge presented a check for $1,260 to the Purple Pig Program at their Friday night dinner. According to Past Exalted Ruler Eddie Block an additional $940 was raised that evening.
The San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers scored 11 runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 17-4 County/Metro Athletic Conference victory Tuesday over the Madera South Stallions at Eddie Chapa Field.
The day before writing this, I went to the coast and bought fresh artichokes and boiled (steamed?) Dungeness crab. One of my favorite dinners is just crab and artichoke.
