Vandals broke into The Boys & Girls Club compound in Oakhurst over the weekend and smashed the driver’s window of the organization’s van, the Madera County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday.

Officials believe the vandals broke into a fenced area of the club’s property on Indian Springs Road sometime between Friday night and Monday morning, Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.

The words, “I won” and other indecipherable messages were scratched into the van as well, and The Boys & Girls Club director says it will cost at least $200 just to replace the window, Stuart said.

Anyone who may have information about the vandalism is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 567-7770 and reference case #13-4704.
