Children of patients, visitors treated to party by teen volunteers

Teen volunteers hosted a Christmas party Monday where children were the guests of honor. The Madera Community Hospital Junior Volunteers celebrated with the kids who have frequented the Children’s Visitor Center the most this year.

The youth organization raised funds for, planned and held the party for those who are often under the supervision of the center staff when their parents are receiving treatment at the hospital or visiting patients.

Patricia Jay, the director of the center, chose two families with a total of eight children to take part in this year’s event. Each child received a present from Santa Claus, portrayed by one of the volunteers. Madera South High School Chamber Choir members caroled as children built and decorated gingerbread houses with their guardians.
