Would-be thief found guilty

An Escalon man was found guilty this week of multiple felony charges when he was caught stripping wire from private property in Madera County, authorities said.

A jury convicted Michael William Glass, 44, of felony attempted grand theft and felony vandalism on Monday after his arrest last July, District Attorney Michael Keitz said.

Glass will be sentenced July 8 at 8:30 a.m. in Madera County Superior Court.

During trial, Keitz said evidence showed Glass’s intended victim was checking his property near Avenue 7 when he heard someone inside one of his farm buildings...
