Workshop to address all things water

Madera County residents will have a chance Tuesday to shape the future of water policy during an informational workshop at the Madera County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Beginning at 10 a.m., staff from several departments — including engineering, planning, and emergency services — will join the board to update attendees on the county’s water status and then discuss potential groundwater management policies and funding ideas to combat the effects of a severe statewide drought.

“It is our hope that this workshop will provide a forum for interested stakeholders to voice concerns, provide input, and help shape the county’s water policies moving forward,” board chairman Tom Wheeler said.

The workshop will come just days after the City of Madera enacted tighter water-use restrictions on its residents...
