A Fresno County woman wanted for passing a number of bad checks totaling $7,000 is suspected of trying to cash another one.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint Friday from a nursery in Oakhurst that 53-year-old Leslie Stevens tried to deposit a check for $188.45, sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said. It was denied because the check was written on a closed account, Stuart said.
Stevens is suspected of passing bad checks at five businesses in Madera County — mostly in eastern Madera County.
