Woman struck, killed on State Route 41

CHP: Driver not impaired or at fault

A woman in her 20s walking down State Route 41 early Thursday was struck and killed south of 22 Mile House Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP public information officer Mark Cosentino said the woman had no identification. Officers were able to identify her but are withholding her name pending notification of next of kin.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the crash and toxicology reports are pending, Cosentino said.

The male driver that hit the woman was not impaired and was not at fault, according to preliminary reports...
