Woman shot as she aims a ‘gun’ at officers

Chowchilla police officers shot and wounded a woman who pointed what appeared to be a handgun at them Sunday night.

The officers said they were responding to a cell phone call from the woman, who was allegedly suicidal and threatening to shoot herself, according to a press release.

Witnesses told officers the woman was lying on her back in a vacant lot in the 10 block of West Robertson Boulevard.

When officers approached the woman around 7:30 p.m., she raised what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the officers, officials said...
