Woman shot by police identified

The woman shot by Chowchilla police after pointing a toy gun at officers Sunday night has been identified as 45-year-old Tina McClure of Chowchilla.

The woman allegedly called 9-1-1 from her cell phone and threatened to shoot herself. When officers responded around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, McClure was lying on her back in a vacant lot in the 10 block of West Robertson Boulevard.

Officers shot McClure after she pointed what appeared to be a handgun at them, according to a Chowchilla Police press release.

McClure was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries, officials said...
