There have been few other voices alongside hers since one Madera woman started a local group to promote peace and social justice. Nonetheless she says she looks forward to joining with more residents who share these ideals.
“I am hoping to become more involved with other activists in my community,” said Teresa Castillo. “My goal is to find people living in Madera County who are interested in a nonpartisan group focused on issues regarding war and peace and social justice and human rights.”
A single mother of three, Castillo moved to Madera from San Jose more than two decades ago. She soon became involved in local schools and activities her children were part of.
