Wine with Madera ties poured at Oscar

A sparkling wine created in part by a Madera businessman was poured last weekend at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

Oscar nominees and other celebrities sipped Bel-Air Bellini at the Oscars opening ceremony, the Night of 100 Stars event, and the Vanity Fair after party, said Gil Soto of Madera. He is national sales director of Bel-Air Beverages in Bel-Air, and also represents San Joaquin Wine Company in Madera.

He said the biggest honor was to be able to pour his bellini — a peach-infused, sparkling white wine blend — in the Roger Neal gifting suite for hundreds of celebrities.

“Roger Neal’s was the biggest gifting suite there, and as he says it, ‘We are not a gifting suite, however we do gift stars for coming and supporting our charities,’” Soto said. “All of the donations from the stars go to the Andy Transplant Foundation and Safety Harbor Kids. It’s such an honor to be a part of those charities through this.” ...
