Wine and Chocolate Weekend draws thousands

A two-day wine tasting event themed for Valentine’s Day drew thousands of people to 12 Madera County wineries.

The 2013 Wine and Chocolate Weekend, put on by the Madera Vintners Association, featured products from participating Madera Wine Trail wineries on Saturday and Sunday. The annual event usually draws about 2,000 people to the wine trail, according to David Glove, an employee at Quady Winery. This year was no exception, he said Saturday.

“It was pretty busy today. It was a great day. Beautiful weather, good people, a lot of fun,” he said.

Along with all the house wines, Quady hosted vendors of chocolate-dipped fruits, wine-injected chocolate-covered strawberries, smoked barbecue, cigars, cheese and a nonprofit wildlife rescue organization...
