Madera County and city firefighters extinguished three separate fires on a day of blazes driven by a windstorm.
The fires destroyed an older farmhouse Tuesday in south Madera County and a mobile home on Avenue 20 1/2 near Road 24. A home in the city was also slightly damaged by a chimney fire, but it was caught early and quickly extinguished.
The three fires were coincidental and not related, according to City of Madera Battalion Fire Chief Rhonda Myers.
Myers said three fires in one day is a little unusual, but many more fires occur during the winter heating season...
