Former board member to lead homecoming celebration

Former school board member Mike Westley has been selected as Grand Marshal for Madera High School’s homecoming parade on Friday. Westley, who has been a longtime supporter of education in Madera, was selected by the school’s homecoming committee.

Westley’s Grand Marshal duties will commence at 1:00 p.m. on the corner of Sunset Avenue and Pine Street where he will lead the traditional homecoming parade.

On Friday night at 7 o’clock in the pre-game ceremonies, Westley will be recognized and honored in his role as Grand Marshal and will then flip the coin that begins the football game between the Madera Coyotes and the Tulare Western Mustangs at Memorial Stadium.

According to Jennifer Gaviola, vice principal of curriculum and instruction at Madera High School, Westley was chosen because of his many years of support of Madera’s educational programs...
