Nearly three inches of rain fell in Madera over the weekend and a smaller storm is expected to hit this weekend after a week of sunny skies, meteorologists say.

The storm, which dropped into northern California from the Gulf of Alaska and continued south, brought .81 inches of rain Friday and 1.90 inches Saturday, said Brian Ochs, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Hanford.
