Walmart lends teachers a hand with classroom expenses

Teachers at La Vina School hit paydirt Thursday when the local Walmart store manager and two co-workers showed up to give each of them a $50 dollar gift card, a tote bag full of goodies, and several boxes of school supplies.

Denise Price, Walmart store manager, told the educators Thursday afternoon that her company wanted to award the gift cards and supplies as part of Walmart’s Teacher Rewards program.

“We are proud to honor our community’s teachers, who give time and often their own money to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful,” Price said. She was joined by Walmart’s Diane Conigliaro and Valerie Pearce.

Principal Patricia Lopez added her support for the teachers. “I think this is just fabulous,” she said. “I think that our teachers will definitely use all of these materials, and they are very appreciative of all of the wonderful treats. I think my teachers deserve it; they are just 100 percent wonderful,” Lopez said...
