400 take part in valley service day
Hundreds of volunteers showed community pride as they took part in 12 projects to help Madera.
The first ever Love Madera, part of a valleywide effort to promote volunteerism, drew more than 400 people to help feed the homeless, clean up parking lots, trails and rivers, crochet blankets for babies, donate blood and more.
The local day of service Saturday was aligned with that of 39 other cities where more than 7,000 people helped in about 300 projects.
