Victim advocate wins Soroptimist award for helping wome

A Madera woman who has worked for more than 20 years to prevent domestic violence and stand up for victims is this year’s winner of the Soroptimist International of Madera Ruby Award.

Beryl Raviscioni, the domestic violence coordinator for Community Action Partnership of Madera County (CAPMC), will be honored at the March 8 Soroptimist meeting at Madera United Methodist Church.

The award acknowledges women who through their personal and professional activities are working to improve the lives of women and girls.

Along with the award, Soroptimist International of Madera will donate to the organization of Raviscioni’s choice and she will receive an all-expenses paid dinner with her family, said Soroptimist Chairperson Linda Lewis Wright...
