Students, public servants, an emergency medical technician, an educator and a photojournalist were honored in an annual community awards dinner put on by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
More than 200 people attended the dinner, which also served as a fundraiser for the Cpl. Herbert E. Macon Post 1981 on Thursday.
“We had an excellent turnout and it was better than we could have hoped for,” said Post Commander Gary Foust.
Veterans of Foreign Wars chapters annually present awards to adults and youth in communities across the nation in the categories of teacher, scout, firefighter, emergency services personnel, sheriff, police officer and journalists for outstanding service, said Foust.
