Valley dairyman Johnny Tacherra has gained several key endorsements in his campaign for the state’s newly formed 16th Congressional District, which includes Madera and Merced counties and part of Fresno.
Tacherra will run against Fresno lawyer Brian Whelan in the Republican primary elections and, if selected as the Republican candidate, will run for Congress against incumbent Congressman Jim Costa, of Fresno.
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-Sacramento), who made a name for himself in the Central Valley during his effort to garner support in repealing the California DREAM Act, endorsed Tacherra on Monday, said fundraising co-chair Aaron Hyde.
