Valley airports receive millions in federal grants

Two Central Valley airports will receive more than $4 million in federal grants to improve safety and update facilities, Congressman Jim Costa announced in a press release Thursday.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport will take away $3.6 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants, while Merced’s Castle Airport is slated to receive $660,000.

Both airports said that the ultimate goal for the money would be to improve public safety.
