Two Madera County men were arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of dollars worth of agricultural equipment and fuel from businesses in the county.

Jacob Christopher Torrez, 29, and 33-year-old Marshall Anthony Monte, Jr., were arrested Wednesday after detectives connected the two to at least a dozen thefts, Madera County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.

Ag crime detectives recovered stolen property during a two-day search of a shop building and adjacent units on Pine Street that began Tuesday.

Monte remains jailed with bail set at $25,000. Torrez, who was on parole, is being held without bail...
