Two Farm Bureaus to sue High-Speed Rail

The Madera County Farm Bureau Board, jointly with the Merced County Farm Bureau, voted this week to sue the California High-Speed Rail Authority over the authority’s environmental review of its route through the two counties.

The route, which would traverse farmlands, would be harmful to the Farm Bureaus’ members, according to information from Madera County Farm Bureau executive director Anja Raudabaugh on behalf of the board.

The Farm Bureau board called the rail authority’s environmental review “woefully deficient,” and said it “inadequately and improperly analyzes the full effects the project would have on agricultural production in the Central Valley.”

The Environmental Impact Review was approved by the California High-Speed Rail Authority Board in April...
